PBBM Asks Gwyn Dorado: “Who Is Your Coach?” — “Coach Jojo Acosta!”
Filipina singer-songwriter Gwyneth Jearei “Gwyn” Dorado received a warm welcome from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during a courtesy call at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace on August 25, 2026—a meeting that became much more than a brief formal visit.
President Marcos Jr. recognized Dorado for her remarkable achievements in South Korea’s music and entertainment industry, including her historic second-place finish in the singing competition Sing Again 4, where she became the only foreign contestant to reach the Top 4.
But what was expected to be a short courtesy call reportedly turned into an extended conversation lasting more than an hour. With the President’s schedule typically packed with official engagements, meetings of this nature are often brief. The unusually long conversation reflected his interest in Gwyn’s journey and her experiences in South Korea.
According to sources familiar with the meeting, President Marcos Jr. asked Gwyn who her coach was, to which she proudly answered, “Coach Jojo Acosta!”. The exchange carried a personal touch. Gwyn had not known beforehand that Coach Jojo Acosta would be able to accompany her to the courtesy call, making the President’s inquiry about her mentor an unexpected and meaningful moment.
Gwyn’s journey continues to demonstrate the reach of Filipino artistry. Her achievements in Korea—and now her recognition at Malacañan Palace—reflect how Filipino performers can cross borders, connect with international audiences and create opportunities for themselves on the world stage.
