From Asia’s Got Talent to Korea’s Sing Again 4: Gwyn Dorado’s Voice That Crosses Borders
Filipina singer Gwyn Dorado captivated South Korean audiences with her emotional performance on JTBC’s Sing Again 4, which aired on October 21, 2025. Appearing anonymously as Singer No. 59, Dorado performed the beloved 1980s Korean ballad “세월이 가면 (As Time Goes By)”, earning praise from the show’s judges for her expressive tone, vocal control, and heartfelt delivery.
From the first note, Dorado’s tender yet powerful voice drew the audience into the performance. Veteran vocalist Baek Ji-young was visibly moved, saying, “It felt like I was watching what you were seeing in your mind. Please don’t lose that innocence. You can become a great diva who sings for a long time.”
Judge Kim Eana, one of Korea’s top lyricists, praised Dorado’s emotional depth and unique tone, saying her “slightly exotic pronunciation adds a strange charm” and describing the performance as “a perfect, dreamlike stage.”
Judge Yoon Jong-shin also commended Dorado’s refined technique and mature style, calling her “a rare twenty-year-old with a classical pop sound” and noting that her natural phrasing and emotion made him “want to keep watching.”
Host Lee Seung-gi, who has led all four seasons of Sing Again, described the performance as “quietly unforgettable,” highlighting the emotional stillness that filled the studio.
Gwyn Dorado made a name for herself in the Philippines as a finalist on Asia’s Got Talent at just ten years old. Now making her Korean TV debut on Sing Again 4, she continues to earn international praise for her powerful vocals and heartfelt performances.
After her success on Asia’s Got Talent, Coach Jojo Acosta took Dorado under his wing, mentoring her in vocal technique, stage presence, and emotional expression. Under his guidance, she refined her tone and performance style, further unlocking the depth of her artistry. Acosta has long believed that Dorado’s talent is destined for global stages, not confined to the Philippines.
Even while based in Korea, Dorado personally requested to continue her vocal training with Coach Jojo Acosta online, seeking his guidance to further strengthen her voice and refine her performance skills. Acosta supports her dedication and encourages her to join competitions abroad, viewing each opportunity as a step toward greater artistic growth.
Beyond his work with Dorado, Jojo Acosta is also preparing upcoming collaborations with K-pop vocal coaches, expanding his reach into the Korean music industry and creating new opportunities for cross-cultural training and development.
Following the episode’s broadcast, clips of Dorado’s performance circulated widely online, with Korean and Filipino fans praising her sincerity and emotional expression. Many viewers noted how she conveyed the meaning of the Korean lyrics through feeling rather than words.
Though she appeared under the anonymous title “Singer No. 59,” Gwyn Dorado’s voice and presence transcended borders, showing once again that music’s emotional language is universal.
